CIPS Vancouver was privileged to have Alec Sharp as presenter at its Feb.20, 2020 event. In an engaging and very informative presentation, Alec shared his extensive experience in assisting organizations in “rescuing” packaged software implementations that had gone awry.
Using numerous real-life examples from his consulting practice, the audience learned that the roots of such problem implementations are common across countries, industries and project sizes – and the most common root is a confusion of “functions” with “business processes”.
Alec demonstrated clearly that the predicted demise of “data modeling” as a critical tool in software selection and implementation has not happened – in fact, it is more critical than ever as companies look to packaged software to streamline operations, expand capabilities and generate increased financial success.
